DSP can help a number of things...but all said, the better the transducer to begin with, the better the results IMHO. I would say DSP is in it's teen years. It will get better an cheaper. but there isn't room for much on top of high end DSP today. It will get a lot cheaper though.
On the low end we will see cheap crap DSP'ed in an attempt to reach mediocrity...
